Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: |
Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic
services to care for your cat's complete health care needs. We have in-house CBC and chemistry analyzers for pre-surgical or very sick cats. We send out a majority of our blood samples to an outside professional laboratory. We hospitalize sick patients that require IV fluids, multiple injectable medications, urinary catheters, and surgical patients. |
Our surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide
variety of surgical procedures. For complicated or uncommon
procedures, a veterinary surgeon will be brought in or referral to
a local veterinary specialty hospital will be made. |
We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that
extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk
patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital
signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. We monitor blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate, oxygen saturation, ECG, and body temperature. |
Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality
radiographs to aid in the diagnosis of many disorders. We also have a new high resolution ultrasound machine. |
Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, root
planing, surgical tooth extractions, digital dental X-rays, and oral
surgery. |
We have digital dental x-ray equipment which further allows us to determine if there are problems with your cat's teeth, such as cavities, tooth root abscesses, retained tooth roots, etc. The image on the right shows a cat's lower jaw x-ray with one tooth having a feline odontoclastic resorption lesion (aka cavity) and loss of bone. |
Laboratory Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for rapid serum chemistry, hematology, and urinalysis testing. We also utilize Idexx Diagnostics (commercial laboratory) for fecal specimens, "geriatric profiles" (our most comprehensive blood panel, which we use on cats of all ages), thyroid, diabetes, and renal profiles as well as biopsies and specialized tests. |
